Epilogue characters[]
- Gisela (June 12, 1856 – July 27, 1932)[1] was the second child and daughter of Elisabeth and Franz Joseph I. Like her sister before her, she was taken to be raised by her grandmother Archduchess Sophie.
- Marie Valerie (April 22, 1868 – September 6, 1924),[1] the fourth and final child of Elisabeth and Franz Joseph. She was the only child whom Elisabeth was allowed to raise herself.
- Rudolf (August 21, 1858 – January 30, 1889)[1] was the only son of Elisabeth and Franz Joseph, and Crown Prince of Austria. His marriage was not happy and he began showing signs of depression. In 1889, he committed suicide with his mistress. His death was a "crushing blow" to his mother.
- Sophie (March 5, 1855 – May 29, 1857),[1] the first child of Elisabeth and Franz Joseph. She was taken from her mother to be raised by her grandmother.
